Shareholder & administrator
Ali graduated from the University of Wales Aberystwyth in 2000 with a BSc Hons in Geology. Whilst deciding what route her career would take Ali worked in a couple of temping jobs before finding herself at the Halton and Warrington Youth Offending Team (YOT).
Working as an administrator Ali’s role started out answering phones, typing up reports and general office support to the team. In 2002 She was offered a permanent post as a Referral Order administrator and this is where her journey working in Youth Justice began. Through training and experience working within the team she went from her first post, to Restorative Justice Officer to YOT Support worker. Skills gained include IT, writing reports, delivering training to volunteers, chairing meetings, dealing with the public, attending prisons, police custody, court, creating and delivering support plans for young people and their families, victim support, community reparation projects, mental health and substance use awareness.
After 17 years of working for the local authority and following the birth of her three children Ali made the decision to leave the now called Youth Justice Service (YJS) in January 2019.
Ali became joint shareholder of Octave Design Services in April 2019 and currently works part time. She hopes to transfer many of her skills and experience of working within the YJS to her current role. In particular her IT and organisational skills and experience of public speaking and meeting with a range of people from various backgrounds and professional environments.
As well as supporting Carl with the day to day running of the business and finances, Ali will also be focussing on business growth and development, marketing, building networks and community engagement.
Outside of work Ali keeps herself busy with family life along with Carl raising their three children Charlie (age 2) and twins Lizzy and Rosie (age 1). She enjoys cooking, baking, and gardening and when possible rocking out with Carl at live gigs.
